Ukraine completing sunflower seed and corn planting campaign

As of May 20, the planting campaign of spring grains and pulses was virtually completed in Ukraine, declared the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture.

In particular, farmers planted spring wheat throughout 175.2 thsd ha (99.2% of the plan), spring barley – 1.337 mln ha (96.2%), oats – 184 thsd ha (94.8%), peas – 230.9 thsd ha (98.1%).

Moreover, Ukrainian farmers planted corn for grain throughout 4.882 mln ha (91.6%), buckwheat – 33.9 thsd ha (42.6%), millet – 62.1 thsd ha (53.2%).

Farmers planted sunflower seed throughout 5.614 mln ha (87.7%), soybeans – 1.047 mln ha (74.6%).
