Ukrainian seaports raised grain transshipment by 16% in February

According to the monitoring reports by APK-Inform Agency, in the period of February 1-28, 2021, the seaports of Ukraine increased the export volumes of major grain crops. Thus, in the reporting period the seaports shipped for exports 3.2 mln tonnes of grains, up by 16% compared with the previous month volumes (2.7 mln tonnes, taking into account the updated figures).

In particular, in the reporting period the shipments of wheat increased by 20.8% to 0.7 mln tonnes, corn — by 16.4% to 2.4 mln tonnes, while export of barley declined by 24.1% to 68.5 thsd tonnes.

In the reporting month, Egypt was the largest importer of wheat and corn (383.9 thsd tonnes and 468.8 thsd tonnes correspondingly), China was the main destination for barley (63.6 thsd tonnes).

In 2020/21 MY, the Mykolaiv Sea Commercial Port (11 mln tonnes) still remained the leader in the exports of major grain crops. The Chornomorsk Commercial Sea Port (8.1 mln tonnes) and the Sea Commercial Port of Pivdennyj (6 mln tonnes) took the second and third positions respectively.
